Jürg Hunziker

Early beginnings

Jürg discovered his passion for IT at a young age. His first experiences were with 5¼" floppy disks and Windows 3.11. Back when the internet still made noises, to achieve his goal to play multiplayer games with his friends, he connected houses using homemade NULL-modem cables and later RJ45 cables and even built his own directional antennas for an 11 Mbit Wi-Fi access point.

It was clear early that his future would be in IT. During his apprenticeship as an application developer, he also helped on the support desk. There he learned how crucial it is in IT to truly understand customers in order to solve their problems satisfactorily.

Web developer with a focus on CMS

Additionally he discovered his passion for web development by implementing websites based on various content management systems (CMS). He quickly recognized the potential of web-based applications and was convinced that, with the progression of browser APIs and technologies, they would one day make up a large share of application development.

He therefore specialized in web development during his bachelor studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Rapperswil. For his bachelor thesis, he developed a gamified mobile web app with which he even won several innovation awards.

The path to full-stack developer

Today alongside his passion for front-end work, he also spends a lot of time on the back end. He has repeatedly proven himself in building APIs, synchronizing data between systems, and creating custom web applications.

He also feels at home in the e-commerce world not only when building shops but also when connecting them to ERP systems and integrating other shop systems via punchout and other technologies.

In short Jürg is living the dream and has turned his hobby into a profession.

And outside of work?

When he's not at his laptop, you'll often find him in cinemas in and around Winterthur. Jürg calls himself a series and movie junkie. There are hardly any well-known films or shows from the '90s, '00s, or 2010s that he doesn't know.

And when he's finally had enough of screens, he helps keep the dying breed of inline skaters alive. To cool off he'll also jump into the Rhine right outside his home in beautiful Eglisau.
